“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –
– Emily Dickinson
Dearly beloved,
I love this imagery of hope by Emily Dickinson. For me, it lifts up the indescribable nature of hope. Words cannot contain its fullness. Hope is much more than wishes, wants or desires. It finds its roots in our faith. As it states in Hebrews 11:1 “faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Faith and hope are intertwined with one another, both singing of God’s abundant love that is given to us again and again. The melody of hope rings in our very souls as we trust in the One in whose image we are created. The harmonies of grace underlie hope as we are assured of God’s presence with us in all times and circumstances.
As we gather for worship this week, hope wings its way through our time together. Come and join in this celebration of faith and hope
peace in Christ, Pastor Jen
