Dearly Beloved,
So many saints have been in my thoughts and hearts this week! On Wednesday, Nov. 2nd, I marked 30 years of ordained ministry! It’s gone so very fast!! As I reflect on these years, it is the people that stand out in my memories – countless saints who have accompanied me along the way.
From my Sunday school years and the good people at St. Timothy’s Lutheran, North Greenbush, NY (now Hope Lutheran) where my dad was the pastor to
my seminary years and Christ Lutheran in Athens, OH where I served my internship with (now) Bishop Patricia Lull
to the congregations I have served among St. John’s, Elma NY; Zion, Cobleskill, and now here at Trinity.
More than dates or places, they are filled with so many people that have walked alongside me, encouraged me, challenged me and most importantly were examples and witnesses to our shared faith in Christ Jesus.
On Friday night, we will be celebrating Dia de Los Muertos at our First Friday potluck. This celebration is a way for us to honor our ancestors and those who have walked with us in our lives of faith. You are invited to bring pictures and mementos to put on the ofrenda (altar) as we honor all of them. You can watch this video to see a bit more about it: Trinity Lutheran Church, Brewster, NY was live. | By Trinity Lutheran Church, Brewster, NY | Facebook
November is also a month focused on Thanksgiving. Here is a resource where you can also combine gratitude and the saints, praying for a different saint each day: Rejoicing in God’s saints — Laura Stephens-Reed
Let us give thanks for the Lord for the witness of all the saints who has inspired and guided us in our own lives of faith!
peace in Christ,
Pastor Jen
