Dearly Beloved,
One of the many blessings of a community of faith is the ways in which we all come together to reach out in love to people both within the congregation as well as in the wider community.
The future of the Brewster Cares shelter: There are so many who lovingly offered meals and service through the shelter ministry. We are tremendously grateful for the leadership of Irene & Charlie Germain who have provided leadership in this valuable ministry for over 15 years!
They are stepping down as coordinators for next year’s shelter. In thankfulness for their leadership, we want to continue this outreach ministry. Since they are “tough acts to follow”, the various responsibilities have been broken down into different areas. Over the next few weeks, we will be highlighting each of them and what they entail. we are looking for people who would be willing to take on each of these areas – for one year only (!) as a time of transition.
Please prayerfully consider how you might use your gifts in this ministry. The roles that we are looking are:
Volunteer Coordinator
Kitchen Host
Greeter
Donation coordinator
Transfer equipment & Set up Crew.
Health ministries: There are times when conversations, thoughts and a variety of experiences come together and begin to percolate with ideas. In talking with a member about an idea to help advocate and help people when they are hospitalized, along with an event that I attended about Music & Memory, the number of people in medical fields in the congregation, prayer shawl ministry, and my home congregation’s Healing ministry, I have been thinking that we might gather people together that could brainstorm ways in which we could enter into this kind of ministry here. If this is something that you might be interested in, please let me know.
It is wonderful the ways in which God calls us forth to share our gifts for the sake of God’s mission of love in the world! Let us rejoice and be glad!
Peace in Christ,
Pastor Jen
