Dearly beloved,

We continue our series “I’ve been meaning to ask” with the question: “Where does it hurt?” This can be a decidedly vulnerable question to be asked or to ask of another. We more often than not want to hide our pain – both from others as well as ourselves. Or we minimize it, just saying that it is “nothing”, feeling as if we can ignore it, push it aside or “just get over it”. Vulnerability is often viewed as weakness.

While we may only share our hurts with those closest to us, we are invited to share them with God. In both of the readings for this Sunday, people in anguish lift up their prayers seeking the presence of God. When others judge them or do not really see them, Jesus sees them and offers them the peace & wholeness they seek.

We may struggle to be vulnerable with one another, but we can always bring our full selves to God – remember how many of the Psalms not only praise God, but also lift up laments and cry out “where are you?”

Join us for Worship as we are reminded and reassured of God’s presence with us always.

Peace in Christ,
Pastor Jen
