Dearly beloved,
I used to joke and say that the “reason” I became a pastor is that I love to eat (and don’t like to cook). Gathering around food has often played a role in the life of the church. From the grace and love received at the Lord’s table to the fellowship that is experienced at potlucks, eating together offers the opportunity for us to not just share a meal, but to share the blessings of our lives with one another.
With the pandemic, many of our gatherings around meals were curtailed. We have resumed our monthly First Friday potlucks (next one is May 5th @ 6pm) and we have had one or two coffee hours. In the past, we have also had a monthly gathering at a restaurant.
We would like to re-start having Coffee hours on a more regular basis. There will be sign up sheet for folks to bring goodies, set up and/or clean up for Sundays in May & June. I’m suggesting that we have more than one person designated for each week so that it doesn’t fall on any one person or family.
The first weekend in June, instead of our First Friday, we will be having a Church Family picnic on Saturday, June 3rd. There will be games beginning around 3pm followed by a potluck picnic at about 5pm. A sign up sheet will be posted soon. Mark your calendars.
So, come together in fellowship – taste and see that the Lord is good!
Peace in Christ,
Pastor Jen
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)
