BREWSTER CARES SHELTER AT TRINITY

As we look to expanding the leadership of this mission, we are offering a breakdown in the roles for the shelter. Today we are highlighting the role of:

Volunteer Coordinator insures that there are volunteers to fill all the needed slots during the weeks that Trinity hosts the shelter. They are: Dinner Cook, Meal Server and Overnight Host. We utilize “Sign-up Genius”, an on-line program, for volunteers to sign up. For those who aren’t computer savvy, the Volunteer Coordinator can sign up for them. This coordinator keeps track so that all the slots are filled, sometimes needing to contact pervious folks to fill in as needed. You don’t need to come down to the shelter to do this. The function can be performed from anywhere in the world where you have internet access. The Volunteer Coordinator then contacts the Kitchen Host and Greeter to let them know who is filling each slot each night.

Kitchen Host & Greeter: These are the on-site people who welcome both the scheduled volunteers and guests. They help to get them all situated and set up. Typically they are at the building from 8-10pm; it is suggested that this been a couple of teams of people. They also help to
determine which weeks that we will host during the season in conjunction with their own calendar as well as the church’s.(more details are available)

Donation Coordinator checks to be sure the shelter is adequately stocked with whatever materials and equipment is needed. These include items such as cups and plates, toilet paper, paper towels, juice, etc. The Donation Coordinator will also from time to time ask the congregation to donate socks, underwear, gloves and other items that are needed to be given out to guests, and/or ask for monetary donations. For each of our weeks they remind the congregation that we need volunteers to bring in donations of fruit, hard boiled eggs, and other fresh breakfast items. They need to be in contact with the Kitchen Host and Greeter to be sure they have the items they need.

Prayerfully consider how you might serve in this important ministry. We are asking only for a one year commitment.
